From the 1st April 2009, The Working Time (Amendment) Reulations
2007 will increase the statutory minimum holiday entitlement to 28 days
or 5.6 weeks.Does this apply to your business?Well
it could do, if you currently give your employees 4 weeks plus Bank
Holidays, then you don't have to do anything. The 5.6 days or 28 days
takes into account the eight bank holidays. If you don't, then make
sure you do from April 2009 and remember to let your employees know by
issuing a new employment contract or by placing a statement on your
wage slip.
Additional Rights?Until 1st April 2009,
payment in lieu for anything over 4 weeks holiday may be given. After
the 1st April 2009, 5.6 weeks must be taken in each leave year,
although anything over 4 weeks can be carried over to the next year.
Any holiday above these requirements, can be carried over and staff can
be paid in lieu if your contract of employment says so.
